Magnificent Destiny by Rod Chase The Jefferson Memorial is seen across the tidal basin with Washington's famous cherry blossoms framing the scene. Jefferson was the only man in his day to foresee the "magnificent destiny" due our great nation. He was responsible for the Lewis and Clark Expedition which eventually led to uniting our country from shore to shore. He also saw the need to have New Orleans as a port at the base of the Mississippi River to encourage and enable commerce in the center of the nation. To that end, he negotiated the Louisiana Purchase.

If you’ve spent a lot of time watching bears like I have, you’ve probably seen this funny animal behavior! When a cub sees an excellent opportunity, he’ll hop off a tree on his momma’s back and let her do the walking for a while!

This little cub is perched on moms back above the thick, high growth of a summer meadow. The rich tapestry of wildflowers might obscure moms vision, but her baby is her periscope! He can see for miles! It reminded me of what it felt like to be lifted up on parents shoulders when I was a kid, and how that made me feel so tall and invincible.
