Seasons of Life IV, A Time To Rest by Mark Keathley

There are seasons of Life when things seem bleak and cold.  We lose a job we've had for years, or the kids are all gone and we seem to have lost our way - maybe even our purpose. Whatever it is in your life, I painted this painting for you. In this final painting of the Seasons of Life series - "A Time to Rest," the momma bear no longer has her cubs to take care of; her work is done.  A cold blanket of fresh snow has covered her world, the chill of the winter wind is creeping in, and life seems undesirable.  I've had times in my life like this. I didn't want to get up and start a new day because something so bad was looming in front of me, that I could not face it. One such occasion, during a cold winter day, I was lying on my bed looking out at the bleak landscape feeling full of despair and hopelessness.  I asked God what He wanted me to know about what I was believing. Within a couple of seconds, a red bird flew down into our courtyard and flitted around drawing my attention to some withered and frozen plants that always come back every spring and I had the thought, "this season won't last." And just like that, as if a warm day had arrived, I was filled with hope and rose up to face my world with joy. "Thank You, God!"  Notice in this painting, where the warm light washes over the cold snow, I am drawing you in with the shadows that lead to the mother bear, and with the turn of her head looking at the new arrival in the tree across the stream, the painting speaks, "the adventure is still going!" Rise up and be filled with joy.

The Protector by Abraham Hunter *Exclusive Release*

I’ve been asked by a lot of friends and clients “so what’s your favorite thing to paint?”. It’s a hard question because almost everything inspires me. But sometimes I get a few free days to do what I want, and this painting is a result! I spent a lot of time in Illinois growing up. I spent so many days there chasing deer with my camera and hiking the hardwoods and fields, studying deer habitat. You can see how much I love doing that because of each meticulously rendered twig and branch in the forest, and each slightly differently colored leaf and the dozens of types of plants all mingled together in the November field. It’s therapeutic for me to sit and immerse myself in these details.

In this painting, a proud Whitetail buck is in the mating season. He has found a doe and her child from the year before and is courting the mother. In late fall, a buck will defend his mate at all costs and will be so busy he won’t even eat. In this scene, he sees you as you’ve stumbled upon these deer in a small opening in the woods. He stands regally in front of his companions, defending them from you and whatever else he thinks could be a threat. He’s a protector!

Firefly Farm by Abraham Hunter *Exclusive Release*

*Exclusive Release*
ONLY 25 12x16 AP's available!

I did this painting recently of a perfect summer evening on the farm. A mist has begun to settle on the valley, and the fireflies are busy lighting up all over. One of my favorite parts about painting this was taking all the painstaking hours to add in each little leaf in the tree that has been silhouetted by the soft sunset. I hope this piece brings you peace and makes you feel at home.
